What the Job Is

You'll sell our service for restaurants in-person—connecting with restaurant owners, showing them literature, giving them demos on a laptop and a touch-screen mobile phone, and explaining the value of the serice and how easy it is to use.

Why Is This A Valuable, Saleable Service?

The majority of small, independent restaurants do not have web sites. They should, particularly because of two recent innovations—Google Local Search (and the Yahoo/Bing counterparts), and mobile phones (like the iPhone) with large, high-resolution screens and touch-screen displays.

Google Local Search is where a customer, especially a tourist, enters something like "modesto ca mexican food", and gets a list of Mexican restaurants. What is often unknown to restaurant owners is that the list of restaurants that the customer will get back will include a link to that restaurant's web site—if the restaurant has a web site and tells Google about it.

The large, touch-screen phones make it possible for customers to do such a search on their mobile phones—and look at menus for the restaurants that come up.

Our Service

We have developed a service that provides web sites for restaurants that is inexpensive, easy for a restaurant to get going, and that provides customers what they most want. The web sites are designed around the menus of the restaurants, which is what potential customers most want to see. There's a basic service that is very inexpensive, and costs $170 for the first year. An economy version costs $140 for the first year. A higher priced version ($320) includes a custom designed logo header and generally looks nicer. (In both cases its $100 per year after the first year). The restaurant can also opt for a more expensive, custom-designed site, but we don't expect to offer this until later. For more details see the material on this site for the Menu Based Web Site Service.

What You'll Get

Your income is commission-based‐plus an allowance for mileage and data charges for your mobile phone. It's a valuable enough and inexpensive enough service that you should get a continuous flow of money from selling basic versions—and a bump up when you can sell the more expensive versions. You'll get 35% of the first-year service charge.
